12 x 12 in 2012 Picture Book Writing Challenge

12 x 12 in 2012 Picture Book Writing Challengesign up deadline is January 29, 2012

In November 2011, I participated in PiBoldMo (Picture Book Idea Month). PiBoldMo was created in 2008 by Tara Lazar, an Australian children’s book author. The concept is to create 30 picture book ideas in 30 days. Why should novel writers have all the fun of NaNoWriMo during that month?

Inspired by this concept, one of the PiBoldMo participants, American  author Julie Hedlund, has set up a challenge for all of 2012:

Write 12 picture book drafts in 12 months–a picture book a month for every month of 2012.

The challenge is open to anyone interested in writing picture books.

You can find out more details, including the inspiration behind this challenge, and the benefits in participating at:

DEADLINE  to sign up for the 12 x 12 in 2012 challenge is 10:00 p.m. MST on Sunday, January 29th. Don’t miss this chance to connect and work with 350+ picture book authors and illustrators who’ve committed to writing one picture book draft every month in 2012.

More details, including sign up, at:  Four More Days to Sign Up for 12 x 12 in 2012

So, what are you waiting for? Head over now, and sign up.

However, if for any reason you miss the deadline, don’t despair. You can still participate in the challenge (it can assist in motivating you to write the picture book that is in your head), except you won’t be in the running for the chance to win craft-related giveaways such as critiques, books, consultations, etc. from the monthly featured authors.

This month’s prize is a critique from Tara Lazar, founder of PiBoldMo.

Wishing all participants an inspirational 2012.
