Launch of Australian Children’s Poetry website

Australian Children’s Poetry is a new site that has just been launched. Founded by author Dianne (Di) Bates, this site is dedicated to showcasing contemporary Australian children’s poets and their work. Di’s aim is to put Australian children’s poetry on every map there is. Please help spread the word.

It would be great if you would grab a cuppa and browse around the site.  You’ll find a blog, articles, competitions, poetry news, an A-Z of Australian poets (which will be continually updated), and much much more.

To view the poets that are listed so far, please click on: Each poet’s individual bio can also be accessed via the ‘drop down’ menu.

So, to keep up-to-date with what is happening, please follow the blog to support the talent we have in Australia. You will see the follow link on the R.H. side of the site.

The site’s first blog was posted this week:

Just before I go ….

I recently hinted that I had been a wee busy.  Creation of this new site is why. Di ‘commissioned’ me to create it for her.  I agreed as it was such a wonderful idea.

  1. You’ve done a great job Helen – and we really need something like this for children’s poetry – I had been thinking about it a few months back, like where can you go to get information on this stuff – and here it is – fantastic!

Thanks Gabrielle. It started off with author/poet Dianne (Di) Bates’s dream of showcasing Australian poets, and similar, and I was only too happy to help her make it happen. I thought it such a wonderful idea. We have so much talent here in Australia.

It IS a wonderful idea and strange that it hasn’t happened sooner
    Good thinking on DI’s part.

Can you tell me how to become an actual member?
    I have had a couple of children’s
rhyming story books published and another ‘Blue Cheese and Honey’ published in May on this site. ‘Airborne’ is another -appearing in this November’s School Magazine .

I keep writing poetry – although not always for children…

    Warm Regards
    Jilletti3 (Jill Carter-Hansen)
